The Walking Group meets
every Thursday morning at the Jells Park Tearooms at 9.30AM, weather permitting.
In the summer months, the meeting time is
8.30AM. Usually between 15 and 25 men and lady members enjoy the regular
exercise together. Each walking session lasts for between 1 and 1.5 hours and at an accommodating pace for all. Members may
divide into two groups opting for a slower more leisurely walk around the Park or the faster and longer walk in order to
increase the pulse rate. Walking is usually followed by a hot cuppa and chat at the Tearooms.
During the summer months walking commences earlier to avoid the hotter temperatures which can be experienced. On fire ban
days walking is abandoned for safety reasons. On regular occasions throughout the year the Group enjoy a BYO breakfast or
tea together utilising the BBQ's and picnic facilities provided in the park.
The Group follows the various bush and sealed walking trails provided throughout the Park including those which extend
through into Nortons Park and Shepherds Bush.
Emergency Markers have been placed around the Parks to assist Emergency Services to locate walkers requiring assistance.
