By tee-off time Monday afternoon, all were ready to play. The afternoon was relaxed golfing and for those new to the course had a good introduction to some of the more demanding holes.
On Tuesday the golf was different to our normal Stroke play. We all took part in a game of Ambrose, a team event producing a team score. All teams recorded good scores.
Wednesday was Stroke play and the day of our competition with the longest drive and nearest the pin prizes for the Men and Ladies.
The winners were Julie Kent who managed to take both the longest drive and nearest the pin (Congratulations Julie a great
drive), Alan Taylor longest drive and Ted May nearest the pin.
The weather was first class and a little warmer on the Wednesday. Naturally with such beautiful weather we simply had to
include the now traditional 'Happy Hour' each day after play prior to dressing up and going out for dinner!
Prizes were presented in the afternoon at our daily gathering for pre dinner drinks and goodies. Congratulations to Julie, Ted and Alan.
Wednesday evening saw us departing the Post Office Jetty at 5:30pm for our 'MV Corque' Winery Cruise under the command of mine host, winery owner Geoff and Captain Shaun. The trip included wine-tasting on the boat and at Henry's Cafe, where we all enjoyed a good meal.
All the non-golfers seem to have had a very relaxed time some even turning up to see us hard-pressed golfers tee off. With
so much to see and do at the Lakes and surrounding area it is not surprising that those attending had such a good time.
John Bridgland managed some good lawn bowls at the local club that was also the venue for one of our very good evening
meals and Margaret and Rodney Keir did some cave exploring at nearby Buchan Caves. All round we all enjoyed the trip which
is now becoming an annual ritual for our Club.
Our special thanks go to Barry Stevens for the fantastic effort he and Margaret put into arranging the trip and also to
Ted May, who took over from Barry at such short notice.
