The course as last year was in good condition, the greens a little slower due to recent coring and Wednesday again a very good day and the five groups started at 8.30 for the 18 holes.
The course as last year was in good condition, the greens a little slower due to recent coring and Wednesday again a very good day and the five groups started at 8.30 for he 18 holes. The BBQ was arranged at the end of the Wednesday golf and was enjoyed by all and our cooks John Bridgland and Peter Hogan kept us supplied with a feast of sausages onions bread and Tomato sauce. Barry our Golf co-ordinator not only had organised the golf but with the help of Margaret arranged a BBQ and birthday cake for John Bridgland who this year celebrated his 63 birthday.
After every game and prior to the evening meal the gathering around the BBQ area proofed to be very popular with a great variety of nibbles and drinks enjoyed by all.
Thursday also saw the introduction to Bowls and John Bridgland together with his assistant John Mathews instructed the group in the finer arts of Lawn Bowls. The bias tended to be a little confusing for some of us and Bowls were seen travelling in many directions, the afternoon was enjoyed by all. At the evening meal John presented certificates to all who had attended.
Of course no event like this would pass without a few quotes that were recorded. Peter Hogan -"The best part of golf is
being on top of the green not under it!".
Terry Russell to his caddy -"the buggy goes to my right!", this to Tricia his
wife who was more interested in collecting fir cones and other interesting items from the course.
On the last day of golf Barry organised a competition for the longest drive Ladies and Men and nearest the pin.
At the evening meal Barry presented the trophies. The longest drive to Peter Hogan The ladies longest drive to Julie Kent
and nearest the pin to Ted May. These were much appreciated.
Our President, Lorna Bridgland, made a presentation of
bottles of wine to Barry and Margaret Stevens on behalf of all those attending and thanked them for the work they had put
into making the outing such a great success.
