GARDEN VISITS

Below is a photo record of the Garden Group's visits to popular gardens around Melbourne.

Rayners Orchard, Woori Yallock.

On the 19th of January 2016, 20 Club members drove to Woori Yallock. We met at 10.30 AM at Rayners Orchard where we boarded the Tractor Cart for a delightful tour around the large orchard. We stopped at many locations to sample some of the 350 different variety of fruits grown namely, white, yellow and clingstone peaches, apricots, white, black and blood red plums. We were full up by the end of the drive around the orchard but still managed to eat the delicious lunch provided in the Cafe. Fruit, preserves and other goodies were bought in the well stocked Cafe after lunch. Another great Gardening Group trip, thanks Allan and Gwen.

On the 15th of October 2013, 31 Club members and partners visited the beautiful Alowyn Gardens in Yarra Glen. We enjoyed a sandwich and cake lunch in the maple courtyard under the sun umbrellas then spent the afternoon wandering through the 4 acres of gardens. There are a number of clearly defined areas within the gardens, namely, a perennial border designed for all seasons, a silver birch forest, an edible garden with fruit tree, a berry garden, vegetables, flowers and herbs and a parterre garden. The garden highlight is the beautiful wisteria and rose clad archway which runs right through the middle of the gardens. A very pleasant afternoon visit.
